Wolf anatomy (After Aaron Blaise)

January 23, 2021 by Tim Squires Leave a Comment

I’ve recently been diving in to the wonderful tutorials and art lessons by former Disney animator and wildlife artist Aaron Blaise.

I’m always interested in the work of other artists, and it’s been really refreshing for me to put my own ideas and techniques aside for a while and learn some new ways of thinking, seeing and drawing.

Aaron is the best online art teacher that I have found. His down-to-Earth approach and friendly, straight forward teaching style is magical. His talent, knowledge and passion really shines in each lesson.

The drawing above is from his course How to Draw Wolves, Coyotes and Foxes. I’ve been doing my best to follow along step-by-step with my Wacom Cintiq in Photoshop.

It’s terrific to be learning a whole new approach to drawing, and I’m really interested in later trying to apply what I’m learning to my own illustrations of thylacines and other Australian/Tasmanian animals.
